PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
September 2018
The first meeting of the new 2018-2019 club year was September 5th.  Around 20 members participated and 1/4 of those shared in the short stories about venturing out in the world to find and bring back rocks and fossils to the valley and our first club meeting.  Fred's travel was the world wide web, but he had some cool fossils consisting of DINO PRINTS, turtle parts that he purchase, and newly created clay parts he made to fill.  Cindy brought in her examples of her new hobby in silver smiting with examples of copper work too - all very beautiful.  John brought in a large example of Chrysoprase he purchase from a shop he visited.  For myself, Alan, I brought in examples of the pink and rainbow obsidian I picked up from Northern California Field Trip, Davis Creek area.  Pictures below.

3rd Wednesday we had our potluck.
April -May
April 18th, we had a good turnout with the addition of a few new member.  I believe John said we had 15 new members during the Fair, and 4 returning members. We took a preliminary vote to keep our current officers, which we will vote on next month.  Also, Gold Club will be voting on officers next month.  New and current members are invited to learn and be tested on our polishing wheels next Wednesday.  One of our new members brought in pseudomorph mineral from Camp Verde in Arizona to share with members :).
Reminder to RSVP for Club B-Day party May 2, 2018 - more information on the Events tab.  There was a motion to acquire a new large flat screen TV for displaying our work, events and other item during events like the Fair.  If we are about to do a rock hunting event this month, watch the website for updates.  Sorry I did not take notes, but I had a quick thought to update this information which I hope some find helpful.   Alan M.
